ST RAPHAEL 2024 REPORT ON CANCER STATISTICS

The Facts & Figures OUR annual report provides: Estimated numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in 2023 (In 2023, there was an estimated 1.9 million new cancer cases diagnosed and 609,360 cancer deaths in the United States.)

In the United States alone, an estimated 1,958,310 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in 2024 and 609,820 people will die from the disease!

In 2024, 2,001,140 new cancer cases and 611,720 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States.

Each year, the American Cancer Society estimates the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States and compiles the most recent data on population-based cancer occurrence and outcomes using incidence data collected by central cancer registries (through 2024) and mortality data collected by the National Center for Health Statistics!

STAGGERING, JUST UNBELIEVABLE!

PEDIATRIC CANCER REPORT

Each year in the U.S. there are an estimated 16,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday.
315,600 BY 2050!

THE CANCER SAGA CONTINUES

HERE IS THE PROGNOSIS

Cancer mortality continued to decline through 2021, averting over 4 million deaths since 1991 because of reductions in smoking, earlier detection for some cancers, and improved treatment options in both the adjuvant and metastatic settings. However, these gains are threatened by increasing incidence for 6 of the top 10 cancers. Incidence rates increased during 2017-2023 by 0.6%-1% annually for breast, pancreas, and uterine corpus cancers and by 2%-3% annually for prostate, liver (female), kidney, and human papillomavirus-associated oral cancers and for melanoma. Incidence rates also increased by 1%-2% annually for cervical (ages 30-44 years) and colorectal cancers (ages <55 years) in young adults. Colorectal cancer was the fourth-leading cause of cancer death in both men and women younger than 50 years in the late-1990s but is now first in men and second in women. Progress is also hampered by wide persistent cancer disparities; compared to White people, mortality rates are two-fold higher for prostate, stomach and uterine corpus cancers in Black people and for liver, stomach, and kidney cancers in Native American people. Continued national progress will require increased investment in cancer prevention and access to equitable treatment, especially among American Indian and Alaska Native and Black individuals.

PEDIATRIC CANCER
Childhood cancer research is consistently underfunded.

Each day, 47 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, which means more than 17,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year.

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in American children, resulting in the death of approximately 1,800 kids each year.

There are approximately 500,000 childhood cancer survivors in the United States.

In the United States, 85% of children diagnosed with cancer are alive at least five years after diagnosis; however this does not mean they are cured or free from long-term side effects.

Even those who are cured may suffer long-term side effects as a result of the cancer treatments they received. Children who were treated for cancer are twice as likely to suffer chronic health conditions later in life versus children without a history of cancer.

In 2024, approximately 20 million cancer cases will be newly diagnosed and 9.7 million people will die from the disease worldwide. By 2050, the number of cancer cases is predicted to increase to 35 million based solely on projected population growth.

Will cancer be cured by 2050?

WE WANT, NEED, AND HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US IN VANQUISHING THIS HORRIBLE DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

The global burden of cancer is continuing to grow, and there is currently no cure for any type of cancer. Researchers predict more than 35 million new cancer cases by 2050, marking a 77% increase from 2022.

Because cancer is not just a single disease, it is unlikely that there will ever be a single cure for it. Instead, treatments for individual cancers are likely to evolve, making it possible for more people to achieve remission for longer periods of time or even permanently.

In a recent study, researchers found a way to change the physical properties of a specific protein that causes 75% of all human cancer cases.

The researchers say the discovery could pave the way for future cancer treatments.

Recently, researchers from the University of California, Riverside have found a new way to change the physical properties of a specific protein known to be the culprit in about 75% of all human cancer cases!!
